It isn't that Dems particularly love Romney, as much as he's the least bad Republican. Silver Spoon rich dudes who preach the gospel of the plutocrat while wearing funny religious underwear are far from ideal, for the left, but at least it's something they're used to dealing with. No one is particularly afraid of being Mexican during a Romney administration, or of having him too close to the nuclear codes.
